Being the resident Deadpool stan, I was over the moon when I heard that Donald Glover and his brother Stephen would be bringing an animated Deadpool series to FXX. Sure, it feels like another thing that will delay the release of Atlanta season one, but I'm here as long as it's quality. Plus, it makes me think about what I'm really waiting for: Deadpool 2.

With the 2016 box office smash known as Deadpool reinvigorating Fox's superhero movies (or, at the very least, giving Hugh Jackman the R-rated send-off he deserved), the Deadpool sequel is going to be one of the most anticipated movies of 2018. In a perfect world, the squad that made Deadpool great would be intact, but we've already lost the director Tim Miller, as well as soundtrack producer Junkie XL. Don't fret, though; there are a number of things that should keep a Deadpool enthusiast excited about the upcoming film.

If you haven't been paying attention to the latest  Deadpool 2 news, this Deadpool aficionado's got you covered. Here's everything you need to know about what will definitely be the most insane superhero film to hit theaters on June 1, 2018.

The gang's all mostly still here

I mentioned previously that Deadpool director Tim Miller left the film due to creative differences, which caused composer Junkie XL to leave in solidarity. Don't trip, though; those are the only missing pieces in the Deadpool 2 puzzle. You can't make a Deadpool film without Ryan Reynolds, and the writing duo of Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are the scribes behind this film, which is great to know when it comes to maintaining Deadpool's voice.

According to iMDb, most of the Deadpool cast is returning: Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Stefan Kapicic (Colossus), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), and even Karan Soni (Dopinder) are set to be back. iMDb has T.J. Miller listed as being "rumored" to return as Weasel, but can we imagine anyone else taking on that role?

New faces

While Tim Miller won't be directing this film, John Wick director David Leitch will be helming Deadpool 2, which should have fans of the combat aspect of Deadpool VERY excited. What's been more interesting than returning actors is the new names being added to the cast. Zazie Beetz, who turned heads as Van on Atlanta, has signed on to play Domino, the femme fatale who has the mutant ability to tip the odds in her favor (seriously). One of the most sought-after roles (Cable, a.k.a. Nathan Summers) was awarded to Josh Brolin, who will look the part, and will be doing double superhero movie studio duty, as he's also Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Sadly, that's it. With Fox's plans on bringing the X-Force to life, the debuts of Cable and Domino in the movie (alongside the rumored debut of three other X-Force characters) are the perfect way to bridge that gap to however Fox plans on fleshing out the universe. Keep in mind that Rhett Reese denies that Shatterstar, Sunspot, and Feral are debuting in Deadpool 2, so we'll see.

The plot

This is where we realize we know nothing more about the film. Simon Kinberg, who's had his hands all over the X-Men franchise, told Slashfilm that Deadpool 2 would "comment on anything that's happening in movies today especially in superhero movies,. The sort of glut or saturation of these movies and the proliferation of sequels is definitely something we'll play around with."

No, that tells us nothing about how this film will move, storyline-wise, but it does give us an idea about Deadpool and Cable's dynamic. If you rock with Deadpool, you know about his buddy comic with Cable, the appropriately-titled Cable and Deadpool. For 50 issues, Cable was trying to do right by the universe while making sure Deadpool didn't muddy up his plans. We have a feeling that the inclusion of Cable, mixed with the idea of "ramping things up for the second film" will play a big part of the tone of the movie.

As of right now, there's no real word on if this particular film will be based on the comic series or any particular storyline arcs involving these two in the X-Men world, sadly.

Ultimately, we're still in the early stages of Deadpool 2 news, and while we know we'll see the film, we just hope we aren't disappointed by the sequel. We will keep you posted with all future updated regarding Deadpool's return to the silver screen.
